PROGRAMME BRIEFING · ST. JOHN'SSt. John's

A new route.Know the details.

A St. John’s applicant comparing Gold Card should start with current official terms and individual eligibility, not a desired departure date. The official gift-based framework connects to EB-1 or EB-2 permanent residence and remains subject to applicable requirements, vetting, admissibility and visa availability. Payment capacity is not a guarantee of approval. Gold Card is not a conventional visa category, and current terms should be re-verified before any money moves. Gold Card is not a conventional visa. Under the official framework, payment is made by the applicant to the U.S. government, not to an adviser, seller or operating business; eligibility, vetting, admissibility and the underlying EB-1 or EB-2 basis remain independent conditions.

IN THIS GUIDE · Verify the official pathway before paying to meet a travel target

01

Identify the decision behind the deadline

Hypothetical example: an applicant hopes to resolve residence before accepting a long-term U.S. commitment. Write down the decision and what permission it requires. A personal deadline does not establish the program’s processing time or remove unresolved individual questions. Translate a desired departure date into a list of gates: current program terms, the principal’s category evidence, vetting, payment instructions and the separate immigration stage. A job start or property closing does not collapse those gates into one decision.

02

Read the current official obligations

Confirm the applicable individual or corporate framework, applicant and payer, and family terms using the official FAQ and instructions. Keep gift obligations distinct from other charges. Do not treat an intermediary’s abbreviated comparison as the complete governing terms. Save the exact official version consulted and match each prospective payment to the named applicant and stated purpose. If a company will fund anything, document that commercial arrangement separately from the applicant’s own government-facing obligations.

03

Compare the gift with commercial investment

Gold Card should not be described as an EB-5 business investment or a recoverable enterprise asset. EB-5 has its own qualifying capital and job requirements. A financial comparison should distinguish legal obligations and risk rather than presenting the two routes as identical purchases. A comparison should state what is transferred, what remains exposed to business loss and what is nonrefundable. Calling an official gift payment an investment can distort tax, liquidity and immigration decisions simultaneously.

04

Plan around completed process stages

Record what has actually been submitted, paid or decided. Current status governs present activities; an intended application is not permission to relocate or work. Confirm time-sensitive terms before commitments rather than relying on old promotional descriptions. Keep a dated decision log: documents collected, category issue identified, vetting completed and instruction received. This prevents an early expression of interest from being treated as proof of permission to move or work.

05

Follow the official payment sequence and individual amounts

The September 7, 2026 official terms describe a nonrefundable US$15,000 processing fee per person, followed by vetting and a gift to the U.S. government after successful vetting and official instructions. The principal gift is US$1,000,000 individually or US$2,000,000 corporately. Each eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and a US$1,000,000 gift, including corporate cases. Corporate terms also describe 1% annual maintenance and a 5% transfer charge with a new background check, subject to actual governing conditions, not an automatic reuse right. EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility, admissibility and visa availability remain separate requirements. Verify amounts and family treatment from current official materials immediately before action. A private quote, fee estimate or promised time frame cannot amend the governing federal terms or waive individual eligibility requirements.
