Closing does not itself establish the spouse’s status. A qualifying E spouse may be employment-authorized incident to status with appropriate evidence.
Keep transaction and immigration milestones separate
Review the spouse’s own admission and documentation. Children receive no work permission solely from E dependent status, though they may study while maintaining that status. Hypothetical example: a specialty paper-recycling enterprise investor expects a spouse to handle sales and a nineteen-year-old to work weekends.
Make a written list of each person’s expected role: investor, dependent spouse, student child, paid worker or unpaid helper. The admission record and the actual classification determine which activities are available; family membership does not automatically permit every type of work. Decide before travel whether the spouse’s business role is consistent with the planned status and whether an older child needs an independent plan.
A recurring error is building a workforce forecast around relatives whose authorization or age will change. Keep civil documents and status records current, then update the business plan if the household’s available roles change. Put those choices beside the staffing forecast so the enterprise is not presented as dependent on work that an arriving relative cannot perform.
