Years rather than months, across the investor petition, the visa or adjustment stage, two years of conditional residence and the condition-removal filing.
Plan the household's life around the full sequence, not the first step
The sequence has four distinct phases and each has its own duration. Preparing the source-of-funds documentation and completing diligence on a project commonly takes months. The investor petition then goes to USCIS, and visa availability considerations shown in the Visa Bulletin may affect when a place becomes available.
The immigrant visa or adjustment stage follows. Then two years of conditional residence run, with Form I-829 filed in the 90 days before the second anniversary, and adjudication of that filing takes further time. For a family with children the whole span should be laid against their ages, and for this household it should also be laid against the offshore rotation schedule, because the residence question is live throughout the conditional period rather than only at the beginning.
Decisions about selling a home or leaving a job should be timed against that whole sequence.
